There’s nothing quite like watching the sunrise from Waimānalo Beach, especially on a perfectly still morning. Waimānalo is a sleepy community on the windward side of Oʻahu, flanked by the Pacific Ocean and the majestic Koʻolau Mountains. Waimānalo, in ʻōlelo Hawaiian, means “potable water,” named for the many brackish ponds in the area that were used for irrigation.
